Western Cowboy Decor Boy Bedroom
By Karen S Mueller InexpensiveDecoratingIdeas.com
Many little boys love cowboys and horses and dream of riding the open range. You can take his imagination to new heights with a western cowboy décor theme in your boy’s bedroom.
My girlfriend’s son was a happy little cowboy and she used western cowboy décor for his bedroom design. She had no trouble finding cowboy sheets and bedspread (and pajamas) with the western cowboy décor. On a wall she hung a cowboy hat, toy holsters, and spurs. Then she added some posters of galloping horses to complete her son’s western cowboy decor.
While the bedroom colors were all various shades of browns, I know I would have brightened up the room more. Perhaps I would have added red or yellow pillows or used brightly colored play cowboy hats to perk up the western cowboy décor some more.
Simple wall art is another idea for adding to the western cowboy décor. I imagine drawing rope lasso borders for a simple design on the walls near the ceilings. Freehand drawing can be difficult, but you can create a simple stencil with a repeating pattern. Using various light brown or tan freehand accents will add depth and can look like knots in the rope.

Add a subtle but unique western cowboy décor touch by using the lasso design creatively to border the door and window or above the bed, dresser or desk.
Curtains and drapes can bring in the western cowboy décor look too. In any fabric store you can find inexpensive material with a western or cowboy theme. If you are handy with a sewing machine, you can make the curtains yourself. Or you can simply cut out some of the fabric’s western or cowboy designs and glue or sew them onto ready-made curtains or drapes.

You can also consider decorating inexpensive pull-down shades to bring in more of the western cowboy decor. It is easy to find designs from magazines and posters and glue them to the shades. If you are artistic, the shades make a great canvas for freehand drawings.
Over time you will notice how many western cowboy decorating items you can find to add to the room. You can make or find pillows with cowboy scenes. Old cowboy boots make great doorstops and bookends. There are clocks, lamps and western cowboy decor items of all kinds.
If there is a good spot to mount some cork board squares on his walls, boy’s bedrooms are perfect places to create a homemade bulletin board. Your boy will enjoy seeing his drawings displayed in his bedroom too, especially when he colors or draws the cowboys and horses that go perfect in his western cowboy décor bedroom design.
