VIRTUAL Room Designs and Ideas
Welcome to my virtual home. Here I get to share my recent decorating projects with you.
My house is not fancy or huge. It was new 20 years ago. At the time it was modern with a greatroom, a cathedral ceiling and 3 skylights. I thought it was a perfect size, an efficient ranch house.
My laundry room is on the main level and a large garage is attached. These were my main requests. For 12 years before, I had a 3 level townhouse with laundry in the basement and a walk outside to the garage. Today my only stairs go down to the basement, my hubby's cave. That's another story...
Naturally, our house doesn't seem very modern anymore. When we moved in, I had the largest kitchen I had ever seen. Times - they have a - changed.
My sister-in-law's kitchen in her recently remodeled home is four times mine. It is often four times messier too. She "does" Thanksgiving and the holidays there now - bless her.
For a long time every wall in my home was antique white. We left most of it that way for awhile. At first we both appreciated the neutrality. It seemed so large and open. Brass and glass, black, brown, and mirrors. The greenery of the plants we put everywhere was the only real color. As you will see, we've added a lot of color since. Soon I'll reveal my "sky" kitchen - another story...
Decorating With Fake Flowers

My kitchen is U-shaped with a pass-through counter to a "nook". We use the nook as a dining room, but it is used for everything. Every meal, morning coffee and late night TV watching is in that nook.
It gets lots of light during the day and we keep plants in the windows. More during winter when we have the deck plants indoors.
Yet my view from the kitchen was really annoying me. I finally fixed it up. Read how in Decorating with Fake Flowers.
