Sports Theme Bedroom Decorating Idea
By Karen S Mueller InexpensiveDecoratingIdeas.com
One of the most popular ideas for decorating a boy’s bedroom is using his favorite sport or team colors as paint colors in his sports theme bedroom. Whether it’s basketball, baseball, soccer, hockey, or football, if he’s a fan, he will enjoy his sports theme bedroom. Start by choosing his favorite team colors, even if a few shades lighter, as the main paint colors for bedrooms.
A sports theme bedroom is even more authentic when you include the team’s banner in the decorating project. You can find items in his team colors and logos like blankets, banners, caps, and perhaps a jersey of his favorite player. Hang them on the walls or sew them onto pillows to add an authentic look. Liberally use the primary team colors in the sports theme bedroom.
Sports and team accessories for his room are easy to find to put in his favorite sports theme bedroom. Beanbag chairs, ottomans, toy boxes, lamps, telephones, clocks, calendars, posters, and even throw rugs can be found to match most any popular team or sport.
If his team affiliations tend to change, be flexible. He might enjoy his favorite sport as a theme without using specific team colors on the walls in his room.

Good colors for boys bedrooms include shades of greens browns oranges blues reds. Veer away from primary color shades.
Add touches of bright contrasting and primary colors like:
black white red yellow blue green to add the pop of color needed for his sports theme bedroom.

Is he an avid basketball fan, or a real fan of soccer, baseball, or football? It can be fun to draw or stencil basketballs and hoops on the walls, football and goal posts or helmets. Use baseball, bat and mitt or soccer balls and nets. Virtually any sport or team can be the focus for a sports fan using matching paint colors in the sports theme bedroom. My grandson has skateboards decorating his room.
An extreme design for his sports theme bedroom would include turning his room into a miniature basketball court, baseball diamond, hockey rink, football field, or track field. Such bedroom designs have been a highlighted on some of Ty’s Extreme Home Makeover bedroom projects. They really add the “WOW”-factor to the boy’s reactions when first entering their new sports theme bedroom.
My artistic cousin used a strip of orange basketballs on black wall paper border to inspire the basketball décor for her son’s sports theme bedroom when he was growing up. She found a wallpaper border and only used about 5 inches of the strip with basketballs on black background and placed it mid high around the room at the light switch level. Then she drew and painted basketball scenes and banners on the walls. She topped it off, of course, with basketball theme linens to the bed and a hoop for Nerf ball play in a corner. The lamp she found was a basketball too. When he was older, he had a black light which really made that room seem spooky, but perfect for a teenage boys sports theme bedroom.
You can also use sports theme bedroom decorating ideas for dorm room décor, den or decorating a family room or basement game room. You can do so much to make any favorite sports décor for a fan of any age perfect for a very special sports theme bedroom or any room.
