Race Car Bedroom Boy Decorating Idea
By Karen S Mueller InexpensiveDecoratingIdeas.com
With my boys growing love of race cars and little Hot Wheels cars, I got this race car bedroom theme decorating idea. This turned out to be one of my inexpensive decorating ideas that came together in only a few hours.
I found several bright red race car posters to hang up. Also I made a mobile of toy cars and displayed some on shelves and dresser tops. They had already put together several model cars that were painted with bright colors and we displayed them too. Now my race car bedroom boy decorating idea was starting to look like a fun room.
I remember back then I was using free samples of carpet remnants to make area rugs. I had simply taped the undersides together to make patchwork area rugs in other rooms. For the race car bedroom decorating idea, I cut some carpet remnants and used them to create a rug that became a blue lake and green grassy areas for their floor.
Some of the orange Matchbox tracks were damaged, naturally. With my race car bedroom boy decorating idea, I cut and stapled a few pieces of orange tracks together and made a collage on one wall with a background poster of an Indy Car Racing scene. Because it was military housing, I couldn't paint the walls there.
The boys' royal blue corduroy bedspreads had faded over time, but I threw on a few pillows made with the bedroom boy decorating idea of a race car theme. I made square, round and oval shapes with red, orange and yellow felt cutouts in race car shapes and threw them on the beds.

My boys had gas stations and parking garages made for Matchbox toy cars and we placed them around the room.
Their bedroom became a little town to play cars right on their floor.
Roads were made with orange Matchbox tracks (we had plenty).
I was happy that we had made the race car bedroom decorating idea come to life. The boys would play together in there for hours making noises like "zoom zoom" and "VRoommm" a lot.

I admit we had a big problem keeping the room neat. (I rarely bothered.) My boys kept taking the car displays down to play with them. We also tripped over orange tracks for months. But I think my boys enjoyed that race car bedroom the most while they were young.
I wish we had kept my boys' Hot Wheels cars and Matchbox playsets. I have only one, the Hot Wheels RacingHart Hot TunerZ Collectible, pictured above. If I had preserved and saved my boys collection, today they might be worth a small fortune!
